Abstract
Contact lens-associated dry eye is a prevailing issue in contact lens dropouts. Development of contact lens associated dry eye is affected by many factors, such as pre-lens tear film instability, lens dehydration, and deposition of protein, lipid and mucins on lens surface. Accurate diagnosis with slit lamp biomicroscopy, Schirmer test, phenol red cotton thread test, anterior segment optical coherence tomography, and non-invasive tear film break-up time is necessitated for the management of patients. Application of adequate contact lens, soaking of contact lens with saline, topical medications, and punctal occlusion is needed for the treatment of contact lens-associated dry eye. Successful management of contact lens-associated dry eye can be achieved with proper diagnosis and treatment.
